A workshop for geeks!
A 3-hour workshop to introduce you to laser cutting, if necessary to vector design, to our software, and to have your first cuts done in person. Settings, technical possibilities, range of laser materials: everything you wanted to know to use our lasercut as yours.
Even if you have never tried to make a cut, we will teach you the basics that will allow you to start getting carried away with this precise and reliable tool.
3d models with a 2d cutting machine
The laser cutting machine has different potentials and applications. One of the most fascinating and unexpected is that of being able to create three-dimensional objects from flat and relatively thin materials!
The precision of the laser cutting, in fact, allows you to create perfect joints to the tenth of a millimeter. With this precision at your service, by learning to design with the right logic, you can build objects of different shapes, as well as add detail to surfaces, by engraving.
what we will learn
In this workshop we will apply the basic notions to control the machine through the computer and realize joints and folds that will allow you to create 3d volumes with materials like plywood, PMMA (aka plexiglass) or cardboard.
You will have at your disposal the laser cutting control software, the possibility of making the first test cuts and the first 3d interlocking volume!

Advance booking is required to register for this workshop.
Cost: 90 euros
Duration: 3 hours.
The cost does not include Lofoio Association membership, which is 10 euros/year (356 days from the day of registration).
Our registration fees cover out-of-pocket costs of the activities we make.
That’s why we ask for advance booking and payment.
If any impediment to partecipate arises between the initiation registration and the event, please inform us: we will try to find someone to substitute you in time and your payment fee will remain valid for other activities.
In case Lofoio should cancel or postpone the event, you are entitled to a refund.
after the initiation
After being initiated you can use the lasercut machine for your projects. Now it’s also yours!
You will be anyway be supported by a qualified operator.
The cost for using the machine is 30 euro/h, not including materials (bring what you need to work with).
Small or repetitive works can have discounts.
The cost per hour include:
- feasibility evaluation fo the design
- vectorialization of a drawing, if needed
- cutting process
- postprocessing

The working area of our machine is 500x700mm.

*Not all leathers or plastic materials can be processed with a lasercut. We will help you getting the right ones.
